I used to live just west of the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd for a few years and always enjoyed visiting the place for food and chillin’. Any time I miss that Hollywood hipster douche feeling I like to stay here for a few nights just to get it out of my system. If you stay in the cabana (I like to pronounce it cah-bahn-yah) rooms and time it right you can experience the wonder that is the night time pool party mixer. When you check in they warn you of the music that will be playing until 2am and make you feel like it’s the hippest party in Los Angeles so you should be thanking them that you are invited in without charge. ::burrrpp::
If dressing like you live in the late 80’s, overpaying for drinks and listening to shit music with poor mixing is your thing you don’t want to miss this snoozefest of premiere douchebag elbow rubbing. It’s quite the people watching experience and really gives you a good feel for what it’s like to go broke trying to make it in the entertainment industry in Tinseltown.
Pro tip: If you are cool and have a room in the cabana section just refill your drinks there and slip back in through the side door to the pool all night long.. durrrr. If you don’t want to hear the slow beat of sleepy house music then stay in the main hotel area ya lame-o.
The cabana rooms are kinda noisy and tarded and tucked away in the back away from Hollywood Blvd so I suppose it’s not as noisy but I prefer staying in the main hotel. The price isn’t cheap but it’s a great location (right across from the Chinese theater), has lots of history, is sometimes being used for filming, has occasional star sightings (partied with Mini-me at 25 degrees, the burger joint inside) and is reported to be haunted. I have eaten at the restaraunt inside called Public Kitchen and had a killer filet mignon and martini in the past. Good happy hour drinks at the bar. Burgers at 25 degrees are always on point and heller tasty. If you don’t mind paying $250-$450/night to stay at the Roosevelt it’s the spot to be. I was sad to see that Teddy’s the nightclub is no longer there. 🙁
